Me soy
En sí
me soy una larga lista
de palabras
que vienen y van
que gritan y desaparecen
que gritan de nuevo
y otras desaparecen
del todo
para siempre
En sí
no me tengo sexo de presentación
mi desnudez no me es secreto
En sí
tampoco me es
un espejo impuesto
Mi cabello depende del tiempo
y de historias cenizas
que trepan la memoria
mis labios
mi ánimo
solamente
Mi cintura no tiene talla
y mis piernas sirven para andar
En sí
me siento libre
me encuentro
rebelde
monstruosa
disidente
Me presento cada vez que
las estrellas vuelven
Deshojarme y florecerme
sumergirme en el placer completo
recordar la historia de mi cuerpo
desobedecer
En sí
no me tengo sexo de presentación
me soy un cuerpo entero
conectada salvaje cómplice eterna
En sí
me nombro
y me basta.
Self-being
Essentially
I self-am a long list
of words
that come and go
that scream and vanish
that scream again
and others vanish
entirely
forever
Essentially
I do not have sex of introduction
my nudity is not a secret to me
Essentially
neither is it
an imposed mirror
My hair depends on time
and ash stories
that climb on memory
my lips
my mood
only
My waist has no size
and my legs are meant to walk
Essentially
I feel free
to create and just create
to live and to feel
and to create and just create
Essentially
I was not born with any
designed path
I was born looking at the sky
lighting up my name
Essentially
I do not want to work while resting
I do not want a sacrifice
in exchange for another sacrifice
I do not want a naturalized pact
Essentially
I want to self-be words that are birthed by my blood
to name myself from the inside
words caressed on my chest
Essentially
I find myself
rebellious
monstrous
dissident
I appear every time
the stars return
To lose leaves and to bloom
to submerge in complete pleasure
to remember the history of my body
to disobey
Essentially
I do not have sex of introduction
I am an entire body to me
connected savage accomplice eternal
Essentially
I name myself
and that is enough.
Mejor ignoro a quien me quiere
Mejor no terminemos tu canción
creemos la metáfora que nos sobrepase
Seremos gigantes en nuestros cuerpos
tu sonido y el mío.
We Shall Be Giants in Our Bodies
I better tell you everything and leave
before I die and lie
under the sunset
where birds and light
reveal the ruins
I better dare to jump without looking
before the wind deceives me
I better scream the rage and the joy I do not comprehend
before the mistake of being eternal
spoils my entrails
I better transform close to the moon
so that the current does not drag me
I better drown in my desires
without betraying the cause
The butterflies will always be here
the bridges will be home
and the smoke shall smile like the clouds
I better write to the rhythm of my ink
discovering without spilling myself
seeking myself in all the words
and enjoying being none
I better ignore who wants me
scattered in their waters
I better meet in the cosmos
that encompasses everything without reason or intention
I better become an instrument
that echoes and advances
(It will always be better to escape and tell the truth
I will always see the stars up-close
I will always be more sober when flooded
in the pleasures which capitalism forbids)
I better join you from my path
enormous firefly
My steps will play with distance
and the dreams will be in my mouth
enjoying the encounters
I better speak in your ear with fury’s lightness
and laughing we shall break the fence that entrapped us in the past
We better break time before we go extinct
Your strings will be my veins
and the sky shall find solace
in your wise rhythm of furious voice
We better not finish your song
let us create the metaphor that surpasses us
We shall be giants in our bodies
your sound and mine.
Dariela Torres (1995) es artivista, poeta, editora, antirracista y antipatriarcal.
Sobrevivir
no me domesticarán
cruzando fronteras aguantando palizas
Me deshago
para sobrevivir
me escondo
He resucitado tres mil veces
On Surviving
To break the skeletal face of what they think is right
carrying the entrails on our backs
the obligation of being holy
the eternal smile that devours me
To overthrow their words
like a verse-spitter
Drag their pale faces
they will not domesticate me
I cling to life with nails and teeth
my chest enveloped by fire
crossing borders enduring beatings
There were times I thought the bites in the spirit belonged to fierce animals
The universe will burn down
Too soon I realized that I will not give out my silence
to have it bounce in the emptiness of its chains
I was not born to outline my displaced soul
fragmented
abused and smile-less
Tremble!
Everything shall fall!
…
Fly larva are incrusted on my tongue
They dance between words
Roots grow on me in the deep earth
In my neighborhood
the divisions in time-space leave voices that scream
and spread desperately among their daughters’ voices
I carry parasites in my dismembered gut
they feed off me
I disintegrate
to survive
I hide
The street in my mutilated body is only a shadow with tedium and claws
without safe return the origin expands and I am reborn
to understand that I did not even have time to weep
no time to even hug
to say goodbye
no time to even grow
On my tongue incrusted fly larva dance between words
Roots grow on me in the deep earth.
…
Out of rage hope is born
I speak from the fire wounds
I speak from the other side of the bloodied bread
I am a terrorist
I write Molotov verses
I set fire to my voices
I am a terrorist
My tongue is an ungovernable nation
my rebellious legs
uterus
body
My womb sheds the blood of all fallen women…
I am a place of rebellion and rage
My orphanhood is not far from hope
I am the raped girls
the lacerated back
a bunch of broken dreams
I have revived three thousand times
Today I am on my feet to scream the name of all my demons.
